Best Flyers By Jersey Number: 21-30 (2024)

Part two of this list included the greatest Flyer to ever lace them up, Bobby Clarke. As we continue our list, more Flyers legends follow him in the 21-30 range. A few more captains and great goalies included. Now let’s get part three of this series underway for the Flyers jersey numbers and who wore them best!

Best Flyers Jersey Number: 21-30

21. Peter Forsberg

Starting part three off with yet another Hall of Famer. Forsberg was originally selected by the Flyers in the 1992 NHL entry draft. However, he was traded on draft night in a haul of players in exchange for Eric Lindros. Despite being remembered for his time in Colorado, Forsberg did eventually suit up for the Flyers and didn’t disappoint. He spent just 100 games with Philadelphia over a season and a half. In his time with the Club, he racked up 115 points(30 goals, 85 assists). With producing over a point-per-game while in Philly, he earned his spot on this list.

22. Rick Tocchet

The next Flyers jersey number is very rewarding. Ultimately winning a Stanley Cup with the rival Penguins, Tocchet spent most of his career in Philly. Not known for his scoring, Tocchet’s style of play consisted more of grinding in the corners and being an enforcer while on the ice. However, he produced a decent amount in terms of scoring during his Flyers tenure. He also found himself in the penalty box quite often totaling an impressive 1,815 penalty minutes over his 11 seasons as a Flyer. As a fan favorite, he was the easy choice for this spot on the list.

23. Ilka Sinisalo

Sinisalo was a top-six forward during his time with the Flyers in the ’80s. Sinisalo spent nine of his 11 NHL seasons with Philadelphia. He didn’t see much action in teh NHL after being moved from Philadelphia, appearing in just 56 games. However, he laced his skates up for 526 games with the Flyers, contributing a decent amount on the offensive end with 409 points (199 goals, 210 assists). Sinisalo was a member of both Flyers squads that fell short in the Stanley cup against Edmonton’s dynasty. He ranks sixth all-time in points for Flyers’ right-wingers and he became the clubs European scout for a short while when his career ended.

24. Sami Kapanen

The next Flyers jersey number is intriguing. Kapanen started his career with Hartford, who later moved to Carolina, before being traded to Philly during the ’02-’03 season. Kapanen wasn’t anything special in terms of numbers, but then again, none of the players to wear this number were. He only had 110 points over five seasons with the club, where he appeared in 311 games. Although his numbers aren’t stellar, they are the best amongst players to wear the number 24 for the club.

25. Keith Primeau

Spending his last six NHL seasons in Philadelphia, Primeau etched his name in Flyer’s history with one glorious moment. Primeau was the hero for the Flyers in one of the longest NHL playoff games to ever be played. It was the longest one in franchise history by far. In the fifth overtime against Pittsburgh, Primeau burned down the right side, cut back, and wired one into the back of the net. A goal that is remembered by Flyers fans all around. Besides his iconic goal, Primeau had a decent stint with the club. Over six seasons, he tallied 213 points (87 goals, 126 asissts) over 312 games with the club. Primeau also served as the Flyers captain from 2001-06. Although this was at the backend of his career and he was on a decline each season in Philly, he will always be remembered for that goal against the Penguins.

26. Brian Propp

Propp was a scoring machine during his 11-seasons with Philadelphia in the ’80s. He averaged more than a point per game amassing 849 points (369 goals, 480 assists) in 790 games played with the club. Propp went to three Stanley Cups with the club in 1980, 1985, and 1987, coming up empty on all three chances. Despite this Propp was a five-time all-star while wearing the orange and black and was inducted into the Flyers Hall-of-Fame in 1999. Propp is a Flyers legend to say the least, he even hit the 40-goal mark four times with the club and scored at least 30 goals in eight of his eleven seasons with Philly.

27. Ron Hextall

The next Flyers jersey number he an all-time great. Hextall was one of the greatest players to ever wear a Flyers uniform. He is one of six players (one of two Flyers) to win the Conn Smythe, the playoff MVP, on the losing team. There is truly just so much you can highlight from his career, he’s a Hockey Hall-of-Famer, he was the first goalie to score a goal, and the first to do it in the playoffs as well. Along with this, he was praised by “The Great One” Gretzky said that Hextall is probably the best goalie he ever faced during his career in the NHL. That’s extremely high praise from the greatest to ever play the game.

Now lets get to the stats. Hextall dazzled in goal, winning a Vezina trophy in his career, posting a career 2.98 GAA with a record of 214-69, with 23 shutouts. After his playing career Hextall became a GM. He was the Flyers GM for a brief period of time, but his on-ice success outmatched his front office success for the club.

28. Claude Giroux

This one is a no-brainer, Giroux was the heart and soul of the Flyers from 2012 up until the time he left. Despite only appearing in one all-star game, Giroux was regarded as one of the NHL’s top players while in Philly. The Flyers captain finished second in the Hart trophy race during the 2017-18 season, where he had his best statistical season. He put up a whopping 102 points, it is the only time he has hit the 100-point mark in his career.

In his 15 years with the club, he played in 1000 games, and tallied 900 points (291g, 609a). Giroux had many big time moments in big time games though. He scored the overtime winner in game three of the 2010 Stanley Cup. Along with this, he had the second coming of “The Shift” when he flattened Sidney Crosby on the first shift of game four of the first round of the NHL playoffs. Shortly after, he Flew down the left wing, cut back, and ripped one off the post and past Fleury. Giroux also served as the team’s 19th captain. Beng named as such in 2013, he served this honor till the end of his Flyers tenure.

29. Joel Otto

Otto makes this list only having played three seasons in Philadelphia. He spent majority of his career in Calgary, 11 years to be exact. While with the club, Otto played 213 games with the club. He only produced a small amount, 80 points (28g, 52a). Otto did appear in the 1997 finals with the club, in which the fell to the Red Wings.

30. Garth Snow

Although Snow also had a brief stint with the club as well, he actually had some good numbers with the club. Snow posted an impressive 2.59 GAA while in Philly and was another member of that 1997 runner-up squad. Snows career was full of brief stints with teams only for a few seasons, and his time in Philly was the best of his career. HIs record in 90 games with the Flyers was 40-25-16.
