So my son turned 3 in March. Starting last night he is extremely hyper and won't listen very well (not that he listens amazing on a good day lol but what 3 year old does) but he has decided he isn't going to speak English or "normal" as I would say like w actual sentences and words. So he's been talking gibberish most of the day and I'm just wondering if anyone else's kids have done this ? He speaks really good for his age and is good at communicating anything he needs or wants and responds to any questions ect. Anyways I'm sure it's nothing but i haven't had anyone in my circle say they have experienced it so I figured I'd reach out.

I think it’s pretty normal for them to do occasionally. It’s their way of experimenting with language.

Lol these are the times where im totally blinded from the tantrums and ridiculousness of toddlers and cant imagine why we dont all just think theyre the coolest and funniest little humans on the planet 100% of the time what a goof! Our kids speak “minion” all the time to each other and us, theyre 11, 7, 3 (march baby as well) and they even get the 16 month old on a roll sometimes lol

When my second son gets really wound up he will speak gibberish. We call him Donnie, from the show the wild thornberries, when he gets to acting like that because he acts and sounds just like him. He is super smart, top of his class. I’m definitely not worried about his occasional crazy spells. I wouldn’t be concerned as long as he’s just acting silly, and not acting disoriented or trying to speak clearly but can’t. From your post it sounds like he’s just being silly.

Lol so we don't speak english in our house but my 3 year old speaks gibberish and thinks he is talking in english. I think your kid is just having some fun. My 3 year old often throws in a couple "gibberish" words when he speaks to us.

My 3y old does this too. We don’t speak English in the house but if he’s trying to talk English he’ll make up words or if he’s just being silly with responses. Another thing we noticed is sometimes if he’s trying to talk too fast so could be he’s thinking a lot faster than he speaks and we ask him to slow down so we can understand him. I think it’s pretty normal for this age.
