26 Vegan American Classic Recipes

Yield: 6 servings

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

American food combines ballpark favorites, fruit-filled pies, and comfort dishes. These vegan American classics include apple pie, mac and cheese, tater tots, lobster rolls, and crab cakes.

Ingredients

Vegan burger patties

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1.5 cups finely chopped mushrooms
  • 1.5 cups black beans
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Once hot, add onions and mushrooms. Cook for 5-8 minutes or until soft.
  2. Add beans, rice, spices, and nuts. Stir until well combined.
  3. Transfer to a food processor and pulse a few times to combine. Don’t overdo it, or it will turn mushy!
  4. Adjust to taste preferences, then form patties with your hands.
  5. If the texture is it’s too crumbly, add some water. If it’s too wet, add more of the dry ingredients you used.
  6. Line up the patties on a baking sheet. Put them in a preheated oven at 350 °F (180 °C) for 15 minutes, flip over, and bake for another 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can fry the patties in oil using a skillet — this will only take 3-5 minutes for each side.
  7. Serve warm on your favorite bun alongside your favorite vegan burger fixings!
